Former West Brom coach Ben Garner is interested in the Barnsley job.
Garner, 37, left Albion after the sacking of Tony Pulis.
BBC Sheffield says he's thrown his hat into the ring for the Barnsley role that has become available following Paul Heckingbottom's departure to Leeds.
Garner worked under Pulis at Crystal Palace and Albion, but has not followed the Welshman to Middlesbrough like long-term assistant Dave Kemp and goalkeeping coach Jonathan Gould.
He has previously expressed a desire to get into management.
