Former Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard could be in line for a shock Premier League return.

Gerrard, who failed miserably at Villa judging by the subsequent improvement under successor Unai Emery, is in line for a new position.

Per the Birmingham Mail, Gerrard could be at Nottingham Forest in the coming weeks.

The newly promoted side are contemplating sacking Steve Cooper to try and avoid relegation.

Gerrard would have to think twice about taking on such a role at this stage of the season.

While Forest do have money to spend, going down to the Championship would be unknown territory for Gerrard.
