Ex-Vejle BK defender Holden to trial with St Mirren

Former Vejle BK defender Euan Holden has been given a trial with Scottish Premier League club St Mirren.

The Scots-born American is currently a free agent after his contract with the Danish club was mutually terminated.

Holden, the younger brother of Bolton Wanderers and USA midfielder Stuart, will play in a trial match against Celtic on Tuesday with other trialists and is a chance of winning a contract according to St Mirren boss Danny Lennon.

"We've brought Nick Hegarty back on trial and we've also got Christos Veletanis in as well as Euan Holden, whose brother Stuart plays for Bolton," Lennon told the Scotland Herald.

"Christos trained with us last week and technically he's very sound. I didn't want to make a decision after just one session so we've brought him back in.

"Euan had been playing in Denmark but had an injury and was released by his club but he has recovered fully from that injury now.

"Even though the transfer window closes at midnight they would still be okay as they are all unattached."
