Ex-Valencia coach Marcelino denies Athletic Bibao contact: I want to work abroad

Former Valencia coach Marcelino insists he's not had any contact with Athletic Bilbao.

Marcelino is being linked with Athletic Club this week, where coach Gaizka Garitano is under increasing pressure.

“I don't like to talk about hypotheses, but no one from Athletic has contacted me or my environment," Marcelino told El Transistor.

"We have a lot of respect for all our teammates, we give our full support to Gaizka Garitano and I'm sure he is working to win the next game."

Marcelino hasn't been in work for a year after his sacking by VCF owner Peter Lim.

"The first goal for the future is to train abroad. We will see if that possibility arises. I had the opportunity to train abroad after the dismissal by Valencia, but I was not prepared, I always want to be honest to put all the ability to achieve it. To work hard on a day-to-day basis, I needed some recovery time.

"In addition, the issue of the covid supposed a change of step, an uncertainty, we see that the changes of coach have been very scarce."
