Former Swansea City boss Steve Cooper was at Old Trafford yesterday.
The manager is currently a free agent and saw Steve Bruce's Newcastle United thrashed 4-1 by Manchester United.
Cooper was linked with several Premier League jobs over the summer.
ChronicleLive says the 41-year-old Welshman was in the stands at Old Trafford and probably there to support Freddie Woodman who he had on loan.
But he would fit the bill for Newcastle given the former England and Liverpool youth coach's expertise in terms of working with young players and developing them.
His style of play, with Cooper citing the Barcelona way, would be a hit with fans.
Cooper is out of contract after leaving Swansea and currently high on Southampton's list if they decide to dispense the services of Ralph Hasenhüttl.
