Former Swansea boss Steve Cooper is seen as the favorite to take the Nottingham Forest job.
Chris Hughton received his marching orders on Thursday, following the team's sixth defeat out of seven matches in the Championship this term.
Forest want a manager who has a track record of improving young players, per The Guardian, and Cooper fits the bill.
He took Swansea to the playoffs in the Championship last term, and Forest may see him as someone who can make a similar impact at their club.
Former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is another serious candidate for the job.
