Ex-Sunderland sporting director Congerton to link up with Chelsea mate at Celtic

Celtic are set to learn if Lee Congerton will take their Head of Player Recruitment role this week.

The former Sunderland and Hamburg Sporting Director is currently weighing up an offer from the Glasgow giants.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers knows Congerton from their time together at Chelsea.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Congerton is seen as the best candidate to replace former Football Development Manager John Park who ended his 10-year association with the Scottish champions in October.

Recently-departed Tottenham Hotspur Head of Recruitment Paul Mitchell, who interviewed for a similar role at Rangers, and Huddersfield Town Head of Football Operations Stuart Webber have also been considered for the Parkhead job.
