Former Stoke City defender Danny Higginbotham is delighted seeing Charlie Adam shine this season.
Higginbotham wrote in The Sentinel: "His greater fitness has undoubtedly helped his game as well - how great to see him powering on in the last minute of matches - but the system has also helped him.
"That's because he can get hold of the ball with Jon Walters prepared and able to drop back into midfield to even up numbers there.
"Charlie can also show his range of passing now there is some pace out on the wings to aim for.
"And because of that pace, teams are having to drop deeper and that is going to give Charlie that bit more time on the ball to pick those kinds of passes."
