Former Tottenham and Real Madrid star Rafael van der Vaart is pleased seeing son Damian making his way in the game.

Damian van der Vaart, 15, is coming through the system at Esbjerg.

Rafael told Bold: "As a father, I'm really proud. He trains twice a week with the first team and he is only 15 years old, almost 16 years old, so he plays matches for the U17 team, and sometimes he is on the U19 team, so I think it is important that he tries his hand at different levels and he does it really well so I'm proud.

"I always dampen expectations because for me it is important that he has fun and he already has enough pressure on him. I believe in him and I think he is evolving because a year and a half ago he was still an amateur in Hamburg and now he has taken some big steps but I also know from experience that there is a long way to go so we take it day by day, and then we see what happens."
