Former Tottenham goalkeeper Erik Thorstvedt has warned Manchester United over their move for RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland.

Haaland was in Germany this week for talks with RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, while he reportedly met with Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Friday.

But Thorstvedt told VG: "It has been said and written a lot about the club missing one striker and should have had another one.

"But what about (Mason) Greenwood?

"His road to the A-team becomes even longer. Amazingly, even though Haaland is young, he is older than him.

"If he is bought then it is natural that he goes ahead in the ranking."
