Ex-Spurs defender Kaboul assures Marseille fans: AVB just like Pochettino

Former Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul is backing Andre Villas-Boas for success as new Olympique Marseille coach.

The former Chelsea and Spurs manager was named OM coach this week, succeeding Rudi Garcia.

Kaboul played for AVB at Spurs and told L'Equipe: "At the level of play, he reminds me of current coaches like Mauricio Pochettino, whom I later knew in Tottenham.

"They have similar principles: always start from behind, cleanly, with short passes. He gives a lot of freedom to his midfielders and his attackers, he does not want them to be in fixed positions, they have to swap constantly. Behind, you have better be solid!"

Kaboul, now a free agent, added: "He has no complex in relation to his age (41). We forget it quickly, I think. He's a mature man, who knows where he wants to go, how he wants to go. He is determined and he passes on this message."
