Sacked Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as a candidate to succeed Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

Argentine coach Simeone is under growing pressure at Atleti as his team suffers through it's worst slump of his tenure.

The Telegraph says should they part ways with Simeone, Atletico would have Pochettino top of their list of replacements.

Atletico sports chief Andrea Berta is said to be a big fan of Pochettino, but will face great competition from clubs in the Premier League for his signature.

For his part, former Espanyol Pochettino is keen on coaching in the LaLiga again and a job in Madrid would suit him.
