Ex-Spurs boss Pochettino: I never sought to insult Barcelona with farmer claim

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has again cooled talk of taking the Barclona job.

The former Espanyol player and coach has been linked with Quique Setien's job.

Pochettino has now qualified his controversial statements in 2018, when he said that "before coaching Barça I would go to my farm in Argentina".

In an interview with El País, he detailed: “You have to explain it well. I was in Barcelona that year and I met (president Josep Maria) Bartomeu in a bar. We greeted each other because we were taking our children to the same school and we were talking for five minutes. That generated a rumour that set off alarms because there were more teams that wanted us, and when they asked me I wanted to settle it drastically; I did not want to disrespect Barcelona.

"You can say things differently. Espanyol has made me a name. But I'm not arrogant and I didn't like making a statement like that. Maybe now I would not do it because in life you never know what will happen."
