Former Spartak Moscow goalkeeper Ruslan Nigmatullin admits their humiliation at Liverpool was a "shock".
The charismatic Nigmatullin, now a DJ, jumped to the defence of Spartak goalkeeper Aleksandr Selikhov after their 7-0 Champions League thrashing.
"Everyone's in shock. The players and the fans," he said.
"This Liverpool was uncontrollable. Spartak's defence completely collapsed and drowned, from the first minutes, against such a contender it is impossible to defend so defensively, it's probably the worst match that I've seen since I began watching Spartak.
"It was the worst match in the European Cup history of Spartak - a black day.
"Statistics - nine shots, seven goals. You cannot accuse Selikhov. All goals are through good shots."
