Ex-Southampton coach Hockaday favourite for Leeds job

Dave Hockaday is emerging as a shock favourite for the Leeds United manager's job.

The Daily Mail says the former boss of Conference Premier side Forest Green was considered a dark horse to replace Brian McDermott but has firmed as one of the favourites.

McDermott, who took over from Neil Warnock in 2013 after he was sacked by Reading, left by mutual consent manager after the arrival of new owner Massimo Cellino.

Hockaday was a right back for Blackpool, Hull City, Shrewsbury Town, Stoke City and Swindon Town.

His coaching credentials included working as Watford's assistant manager as a coach for Southampton and Leicester.
