Former Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino is set to resume his management career at home in Argentina.

The Argentine is in advanced talks to succeed Gabriel Heinze as coach of Velez Sarsfield.

Pellegrino's last job was with Leganes in LaLiga, which he lost last year. He is now a step away from agreeing terms with Velez.

Velez currently sit fourth in the Superliga standings, losing to bottom of the table Godoy Cruz at home on the weekend.
