Former AS Roma chief Umberto Gandini admits he won't be returning to AC Milan.
Gandini had already been Milan's managing director from 1993 and 2016.
“It was a complex summer," the 58-year-old said on Sky Sport Italia.
“(Ivan) Gazidis deciding to accept the Milan job brought me to have a series of meetings. We've had a good rapport for years, as I do with Elliott Management.
“However, we recognised that as things stand, there aren't the right conditions for my return. I remain a free agent, while Gazidis will take over at Milan from December 1. It's up to him now to take the club back to the top.
“I feel free to make my next decision, something I've not experienced over the last 25 years. I can calmly evaluate the opportunities that I hope can present themselves."
