Former Premier League ref Mark Halsey believes Manchester United wing-back Ashley Young is facing a three-match ban.

Young was spotted by cameras elbowing Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic during yesterday's 0-0 draw.

Halsey wrote for The Sun: "Young is facing a retrospective three-match ban for this elbow on Tadic.

"He clearly catches the Saints midfielder in the midriff — and that is an act of violent conduct.

"And, knowing Jose as I do, he will be furious when he sees the footage.

"It endangered the visiting player's safety and there was no need for it whatsoever.

"There is no way that Craig Pawson would have seen it so it is a clear case for the incident to be referred to the panel of three ex-officials.

"I fully expect Young to be charged today and banned for the next three games."
