Former Real Sociedad coach Eusebio Sacristan says Carlos Vela can be proud of his career.

The Mexico international appears to have found his place in MLS with Los Angeles FC, though many believe the former La Real and Arsenal striker could've achieved much more in his career.

But Eusebio told Marca: "He has been everything he has wanted to be and has achieved everything he has wanted to achieve.

"He wanted to be happy playing soccer, doing important things and he did it in Spain. He got to do it at Real Sociedad, where he was an important and colourful player who enjoyed every day he was at Real because he was happy, playing on that team and trying to be his best version.

"Maybe he was never interested in looking for other things than to be happy playing soccer, where he could demonstrate the quality he has. He has found another place, the MLS, where he has found that space to continue being happy and demonstrate how great a player he is, enjoying himself and being comfortable, with the people around him."
