Ex-Real Madrid president Calderon slams Perez: He's going to rescue football? He's had too much wine!

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has slammed Florentino Perez for his role in the Super League breakaway.

The Real president was chairman of the Super League group, which has now been suspended after the vast majority of clubs pulled out.

Calderon said on Idolos: "It is outrageous and crazy. I think it is a stab at football. It is very bad news and comes at the worst moment because it is when football should be more united. There are many clubs that are suffering and they need the opposite of what this tournament raises.

"I think that yesterday Florentino was joking or had had a couple of extra wines because to say that this project comes to save football seems like a joke to me.

"There were too many jokes in a row and that shows that he was not well for whatever reason. He really knows that this is done to save the skin of all those who have caused a brutal crisis in football with expenses that were not justified. And he himself has involved Real Madrid in a multi-million dollar project that we do not even know what the stadium will cost, which was certainly not necessary.

"What he is going to solve is an economic problem at the expense of others."
