Ex-Real Madrid president Calderon: Bale must resist China

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon says Gareth Bale should resist a move to China.

While insisting Bale does need to leave Madrid this summer, Calderon insists the Wales captain needs to stay in Europe.

"Join a Chinese club? I think it will not be the right decision for Gareth Bale. The Chinese league is not yet developed and it is not yet a high level championship. He should play for an elite club, and he should do it so that the words of Zinedine Zidane can be shoved back in his throat," said Calderon to Sky Sports.

"Zidane dismissed him when he left the club early last season, he wanted to keep Cristiano Ronaldo and sell Bale. The president did not follow this advice, so Zidane left the club. When he came back two months ago, he was promised that Bale would not be there in the future.

"Maybe his comments were not really appropriate, but what he showed is that he's tired of the situation and that the best thing is to find a solution."
