Former Real Madrid assistant coach Angel Cappa can't see River Plate coach Marcelo Gallardo succeeding Zinedine Zidane.

Gallardo, who has won two Copa Libertadores trophies as River Plate coach, has recently emerged as a potential replacement for Zidane, if the Frenchman parts ways with Real Madrid in the next few months.

"Real Madrid and Barcelona not only look at the quality of a coach, but also at his image," Cappa told La Oral Deportiva.

"Gallardo was very successful in Argentina, but he does not have the endorsement or marketing [image] for Real Madrid.

"People do not watch Argentine football in Europe and it is not taken into account at all, just to look for some players. It is an arrogant mistake by the Europeans."
