Ex-Real Madrid midfielder De la Red: Raul prepared to replace Zidane

Former Real Madrid midfielder Ruben de la Red says Raul would be ready to replace Zinedine Zidane.

As the current coach of Castilla, Raul has impressed with his tactical organisation and the fact he was able to guide the team to their first ever success in the Youth Champions League.

Real Madrid's fortunes could get even worse with a defeat in Saturday's Clasico, and then there could be perhaps questions asked about the French coach's future.

"The feeling I get is that if Raul has to coach Real Madrid in the future, he is qualified to do so and succeed," De la Red explained in an interview conducted at the Nacex Challenge tennis tournament.

"We will have to analyse why this situation has happened, Zidane will surely be aware of it and will attempt to solve it.

"I was surprised by the defeats because the team had been good at the start of the season, but with COVID-19 and the conditions that surround it, we need to adapt."
