Former Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano was impressed by victory over Valencia on Saturday.

Valdano says the performance was the best he's seen this season.

He said, "Against Valencia I saw a competitive Madrid for the first time."

The Argentine has also impressed by Dani Carvajal.

"Carvajal is a player with tremendous decision-making, he is a contagious player, he has the ability to drag through the rest, he gave Madrid a fresh and competitive arrogance."

Valdano also weighed into the Isco controversy.

"Real Madrid cannot lose a resource of the category of Isco, whoever has the problem has to solve it."
