The former Everton manager was named as Real coach for the second time on Tuesday.
Sacchi told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I knew that Real Madrid had in mind some names of Italian coaches, and among them, there was also Carlo. I thought he was fine at Everton, but if Real Madrid comes, how can you say no?
"The fact that Carlo knew the environment and surroundings was decisive. He has a lot of experience, he is a great coach and he has won everywhere: Italy, England, Germany, Spain and France.
"If I say that I consider him my son, I hope he does not get angry. I wanted him at Milan in 1987, although I knew he had knee pain. I convinced (Silvio) Berlusconi and told him that with Ancelotti we would win the Scudetto. In that first season I was able to verify Carlo's humility."
Sacchi also remarked: "Carlo arrived in 2013, they were obsessed with La Décima. I remember that after hiring him, Pérez called me and said: 'Did you explain to him that here in Madrid we have to be owners of the ball and the game?' I assured that he had made the right decision: in the first season they won the Champions League. In that triumph people saw beauty, emotion and dominated the game.
"The second season was more irregular, but the Club World Cup was brought home. Still, there was a divorce, but these things happen in football."
