Former Real Madrid coach John Toshack doesn't understand Gareth Bale wishing to move to China.

Bale flew back to England on Monday night and met with his agent in London on Tuesday afternoon before returning to Madrid on Tuesday night, leading many outlets to once again wonder whether he has a future at Real Madrid.

"I don't think Bale's departure is a matter of money for him," Toshack told Radio MARCA.

"I don't see any point in him going to China, but we'd have to ask him."

When asked about his thoughts on Bale's time in Spain, Toshack weighed up a couple of the pros and cons.

"Bale's numbers since arriving in Spain are very good, although he has a problem with injuries," Toshack noted.

"He's a unique player, capable of doing anything, but he's very introverted."
