Former Real Madrid chief Miguel Angel Portugal is emerging as a candidate for the Racing Santander post.

Portugal, a former Real coach, is available after leaving the Madrid giants last season as part of former president Ramon Calderon's regime.

Racing president Francisco Pernia has gone cold on Frenchman Luis Fernandez, with Portugal now regarded as favourite for the job vacated after the dismissal of Juan Carlos Mandiá.
