Former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is sorry to see Karim Benzema dumped out of Euro 2020 with France.

The Roma coach was hoping for France to go deep into the tournament for the sake of his old Real striker.

He told talkSPORT: "He is the reason why I am a little sad that France did not pass because I think that Benzema could be… Cristiano Ronaldo no, Lionel Messi no, Mbappé no… I think that Benzema would have finally had the chance to get a reward, a Ballon d'Or or something like that.

"He's an incredible player, he played so well, under tremendous pressure.

"When he came back to the national team he was under tremendous pressure and he was fantastic."
