Ex-Real Madrid coach Del Bosque tells Leeds: Iraola is terrific

Former Real Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque has mixed feelings about the Spanish talent in England.

Del Bosque says it's a positive sign of local coaching, but laments seeing so many players not in Spain.

He told AS: "Football is universal, there are no borders. People are becoming more knowledgeable about the Premier League. Anyone who does not talk about it seems to be offside, but it is true that they have earned it. It has always been a loved and admired football in Spain. Just like us.

"For me, as a coach, that there are four Spanish coaches in the Premier League, and with the possibility of some more coming, since there was talk that Andoni Iraola is wanted by Leeds United, he is terrific.

"That there are five Spanish goalkeepers (in England), 28 Spanish but curiously five goalkeepers, is good. On the one hand, it's bad that Spanish football loses talent, but I think the most important thing is that in our participation in the Champions League, the teams show that they are at the level of anyone. It's a rare weekend that we don't see some English football.

"There is a certain inevitable relationship for many reasons, but mainly because we have four coaches here. Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, Julen Lopetegui has come out of a moment of trouble with Wolverhampton..."
