Former PSG president Charles Villeneuve says the club couldn't afford to keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Swede left Paris for Manchester United last summer.
Villeneuve believes UEFA played a role in PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi having to allow Ibra to come off contract.
He explained to Yahoo!: "Today we cannot spend more money than comes in.
"Ibra left because he was very expensive. We must not forget that TV rights are up to 600 million euros in France whereas in England three billion euros are donated to English teams. A president like Nasser is obliged not to spend because he is under surveillance, the financial fair play really exists."
