Ex-Palermo chief Foschi delighted seeing Cavani succeed with Napoli

Former Palermo sports chief Rino Foschi is delighted seeing Edinson Cavani doing so well for Napoli.

The former Rosanero striker has scored seven goals in his first eight games for Napoli who he joined in the summer.

"We are talking about a real champion because he has everything," said Foschi. "Cavani has sensibility in his feet, tactical intelligence, a willingness to sacrifice himself and professionalism.

"I'd had our chief scout follow him many times. I received a series of DVDs from one of his agents, Triuzzi. The relationship was enthusiastic.

"We kept an eye on him at the Under-20 World Cup where he shone with Pato. But honestly it was Cavani who had a higher value.

"While we asked about him, Capello and Baldini were launching an offensive from Real Madrid. I knew about it and I stopped any delay.

"I have never regretted that purchase and neither will Napoli. They paid a lot for him. I believe his desire to stay in Italy counted a lot.

"I know for certain that in England they were ready to pay a sack-load of cash."
