Ex-Notts County ace Rodgers in doubt for NYRB's play-off opener

Luke Rodgers is in danger of missing New York Red Bulls' opening play-off match because of a knee problem.

The English striker, who has netted nine goals this term, received a knock on his knee in the 1-0 win over Philadelphia Union on the weekend and is in doubt for Wednesday's wildcard final against FC Dallas in Frisco.

"I got kicked in the game and it's flared up. There's been a lot of fluid on my knee. It's 50-50 if I can go,'' said Rodgers.

"You can't have it drained again; it won't be healthy for the knee…I just have to keep my fingers crossed. You ice it, get physio, get massages to loosen it up, that's it. There's not a lot you can do. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping I'll be able to play.

"Obviously it's a massive game that I want to play in."
