Ex-Newcastle striker Quinn: Keeping Remy must be priority

Former Newcastle United striker Mick Quinn says they must do all they can to sign permanently on-loan QPR striker Loic Remy.

Quinn wrote in the Evening Chronicle: "I would clear the decks and make sure that over the next few days, Loic Remy and his agent would be sitting in my office.

"Nothing else mattered. This would be my one and only priority.

"Then I would ask what they wanted for him to sign a long-term contract at Newcastle. After that, I would contact QPR to find out what they wanted for their player.

"And then I would do a deal.

"Or at least I would attempt to get Remy signed, which is sometimes all you can do, because the guy is a superstar.

"What a gesture this would be by Mike Ashley. It would win him back a lot of good feeling. Getting Remy to agree a contract would be a wonderful present to the fans."
