Ex-Newcastle defender O'Brien: Diving part of the game even in MLS

Vancouver Whitecaps defender Andy O'Brien suggests diving, or simulation, is simply part of the game.

The former Newcastle United, Bolton and Leeds United man is aware that there are divers in MLS but disagreed with Houston Dynamo coach Dom Kinnear who feels it is getting out of hand.

"There are people that dive in Europe and there are people that dive here," he told the Vancouver Sun.

"I suppose there's a level that you'd like to think is acceptable. And I've always been one, personally, that once a referee gives a decision, there's not really a lot you can do about it."

Kinnear made the comments after FC Dallas striker Kenny Cooper went down easily to win a free-kick in Houston's 3-2 defeat on the weekend.
