Charlton Athletic have passed on trialist Shola Ameobi.

Former Newcastle and Crystal Palace striker Ameobi has failed in his attempt to land a playing contract with Charlton Athletic, says the Daily Mail.

He has spent time training with the Valley club, but the club's coaching team have opted against signing Ameobi.

Ameobi has found difficulty in securing a new club since departing Selhurst Park with Bolton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday offering him a trial but not a deal.
