Former Newcastle United chief Dennis Wise is eyeing the top job at QPR.
The People says the former Leeds boss, sacked last week as executive director of football at Newcastle, would relish the chance to mastermind QPR's chase for the Premier League, should under-pressure Hoops chief Paulo Sousa be axed.
Toon owner Mike Ashley is understood to have paid around £1.5 million to terminate Wise's Newcastle deal, which had just over a year to run.
But there were no clauses to prevent Wise from returning to football just as soon as he wants.
