Ex-Newcastle boss McClaren shock Leeds candidate

Former Newcastle United and England boss Steve McClaren is in line for the Leeds United job.

The Mirror says McClaren could be a contender to become Leeds' new boss after Thomas Christiansen was sacked for failing to win a game in 2018.

Christiansen was axed on Sunday night in the wake of Saturday's crushing 4-1 home defeat to Cardiff, which left Leeds in 10th place, seven points off the play-offs.

McClaren was in the stands at Elland Road on Saturday and the former England boss has been out of work since leaving his position as consultant to Maccabi Tel Aviv in December.

Chairman Andrea Radrizzani will want to make a swift appointment and may look abroad again after his left-field appointment of Dane Christiansen in June.
