Ex-Montreal Impact star Felipe prepared to hit the ground running with NYRB

New York Red Bulls made a monumental off-season signing when they landed Brazilian midfielder Felipe.

The 24-year old landed at Red Bull Arena from Montreal Impact having been picked up in a trade which saw New York also take top spot in the allocation order while Ambroise Oyongo and Eric Alexander went the other way to Quebec.

Felipe was a prime mover in the Impact's midfield in 2014, as he was the two seasons prior, one of which was spent under the guidance of new Red Bulls boss Jesse Marsch and the pair were delighted to be reunited after two years apart.

"I know how he works and the way he likes us to be on the field and the way he likes us to train," Felipe told MLSsoccer.com of coach Marsch.

"I like the way he does things. He believes in me, and when you get that feeling, you can go out on the field free to do your best and do everything you can for the team.

"The best solution for me right now was to come here. I want to do better than I did in 2012 (under Marsch) because I know I can do it."

Of the former FC Lugano man, Marsch added: "He understands what it takes to win and understands all the little things that make a team good and make a player good.

"I knew that in those ways, he'd be an important piece to add to this [group].

"He's still young. There's still little things to continue to mold with him and continue to refine, but the ceiling is very high for what he can be and what he can accomplish here in the next 10 years."
