Ex-Middlesbrough, Celtic midfielder Robson looking to stay with Aberdeen

Barry Robson admits he is hoping to sign a new contract with Aberdeen after a fairly successful campaign with the club.

The 35-year old midfielder joined the Dons last summer following a short spell with Sheffield United and went on to make 35 appearances in all competitions under Derek McInnes.

The former Dundee United, Celtic and Middlesbrough man is out of contract in the summer but wants to stick around at the Pittodrie and help Aberdeen bounce back after finishing third on the Scottish Premiership table due to a final day loss to Motherwell.

"I'd love to stay," the former Scotland international said.

"We have a top manager, top players and it's a great club. Everything about it is in place. We'll try to sort it out, but at the moment I'm just gutted about what has happened.

"The players and fans were disappointed but we will be making sure this club is competing for second and in the cups every year. This disappointment will only mean we come back with the bit between our teeth."
