Former Olympique Marseille chairman Pape Diouf has weighed into the handling of Neymar.
The PSG star is being linked with Real Madrid ahead of the summer market.
Diouf told L'Equipe: "In my opinion, the Neymar case was not managed as it should have been. Neymar is undoubtedly the best player who has evolved in France.
"If he ever comes to my club, I will not make the public statements that were made. I will call him in my office. I would make him understand that he is the great player we expected. He is the one who will allow us to achieve our goals, but in the case of a football team and many things, I can not afford to make some public statements that other players may not be able to take.
"I would say to him: 'It is not because I made these statements that I have no regard for you. I rate you fully and I want you to know it, but put yourself in my place, I have to manage the entire workforce'."
