Former Manchester United winger Ben Thornley admits his old coach Brian Kidd ignored a request to contribute to his book.
Thornley's autobiography 'Tackled' charts a career that saw him tipped for the top at Old Trafford before being wrecked by a horror tackle.
"We tried everything to get hold of him for the book but, unfortunately, we never heard back from him," wrote Thornley.
"He's also a member of Manchester City's backroom staff these days so perhaps they were steering him away from doing it. Who knows? I certainly hope it wasn't anything personal because I've never had a problem with Kiddo.
"In fact he was an integral part of my time at the club, so it would have been a real privilege for me if he could have got involved and said a few words. It's a real shame that he couldn't but such is life."
