Former Manchester United striker Erik Nevland is backing their move for RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland.
Haaland was in Germany last week for talks with interested clubs, while he reportedly met with Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Friday. RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann has since confirmed meeting with Haaland to discuss the prospect of a move to the Bundesliga.
In England, meanwhile, it's been reported by the Mirror that Haaland has informed Solskjaer he would welcome a switch to Old Trafford. And for Nevland, it'd be a transfer which would prove a success.
The former Norway international striker believes the youngster would offer United something different, telling VG: "That's probably why I think it will be such a good match.
"United can pick up a great player who, in addition to tremendous strength and flair for goals, has momentum. I think he would fit in well and get a lot of playing time from early on."
Nevland was on the books for three years at United and made his debut in the League Cup. He also enjoyed two impressive years with Fulham.
Now 42, he says it'll be critical that United give Haaland the chance to immediately establish himself should they reach a deal with Salzburg.
He warned: "If you spend so much money on a player, you dig your own grave if you don't play him."
