Ex-Man Utd star Fletcher: De Gea improvement down to Henderson

Former Manchester United star Darren Fletcher believes the return of Dean Henderson has spurred David De Gea to new heights.

The Spaniard was in poor form last season, costing United several points in the Premier League.

But he has been faultless since the start of the season, which may have something to do with Henderson providing increased competition.

De Gea was man of the match as United defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League group stages.

"People wonder why Henderson was kept around, and it was to push David," Fletcher said after the PSG win on BT Sport.

"[Sergio] Romero was always happy to be No 2. [De Gea's] performance tonight was fantastic. Dean Henderson is a threat but he has a lot to learn."
