Ex-Man Utd midfielder Fletcher feels 'fantastic' Pogba getting back to best

Former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher was impressed by Paul Pogba last night.

Fletcher had lots of praise for Paul Pogba after his goal against Brighton in United's Carabao Cup win, but believes he could work on his application.

However, the former United midfielder was delighted to see Pogba's celebration despite his side already being comfortably ahead in the tie.

He told Sky Sports: “He's a fantastic player. Sometimes, it's just the little things like his reaction to losing the ball and things. The talent is there, he's not gonna have the best game all of the time, it's just the application. He always wants the ball, he's hungry for it.

“I feel like his performances get criticised to the last detail, but he's a fantastic footballer. His manager trusts him, his team-mates trust him.

“Look how much this meant to him tonight - this is a Carabao Cup game to put them in the quarter-final with no fans, away to Brighton and he comes off the bench. He's absolutely buzzing to score that free-kick, with the help of the deflection, even though Juan Mata told him it was an own-goal, but it was great to see the players at the end of the game.

“This meant a lot to them, because a lot of these players haven't played in the league and they want to be a part of it. Hopefully that kick starts the season for Paul Pogba and gives him a bit of confidence, because even though you might not think it, all players need confidence."
