Ex-Man Utd defender Silvestre undergoes knee surgery

Portland Timbers defender Mikael Silvestre has undergone successful surgery on his knee injury sustained earlier this month.

The former Manchester United and Arsenal man ruptured his ACL in his left knee against New England Revolution on May 2 and has now gone under the knife.

Silvestre, who joined the Timbers in February, will begin rehabilitation soon and has been ruled out for anywhere from six to nine months.
