Ex-Man Utd defender Parker keen for Tottenham centre-half Dawson to get England chance

Former Manchester United and England defender Paul Parker wants to see fresh legs in Fabio Capello's line-up tomorrow night.

Parker believes Tottenham's Michael Dawson should partner Terry in central defence on Wednesday, with Jamie Carragher suspended.

Speaking to Betfred.com, he said: "God knows why he wasn't in the original squad - but he should replace Carra against Slovenia without a shadow of doubt.

"Michael Dawson was playing well for his club at the end of the season yet he picked (Matthew) Upson, who just hasn't been playing well."

On the game itself, Parker added: "We need to show grit.

"We could be up against a team that sits back and we will have to break them down.

"I have a gut feeling that we are going to draw. This could end 0-0."
