Former Manchester United defender Kevin Moran says new manager Louis van Gaal will make sure last season's woeful campaign will be a one off.
Moran wrote in the Sunday World: "United will not finish seventh this season.
"If the imperious swagger with which the Dutchman sauntered into his new surrounds illustrates anything it is his stature: Bigger than any dugout, room, arena, league or universe he occupies; which makes him a perfect fit for his new employer.
"David Moyes was a small town boy lost in the big city, as deferential as a butler when the job demanded he be assertive, decisive, sure.
"He was like the Duty Free sales assistant, who through some gargantuan mix-up, found himself handed the cockpit controls of a commercial jetliner.
"Now United have a pilot who hardly requires a manifest: A league winner in Spain, Germany and Holland, a World Cup star, he knows the flight-path to glory by rote."
