Ex-Man Utd coach McClaren: Where Martial needs to play

Former Manchester United assistant manager Steve McClaren says Anthony Martial should be played on the wing.

Despite scoring 12 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils this season, the 24-year-old forward has been criticised for his recent displays for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

"Martial is not a number nine, he's not a striker," the ex-England boss told Sky Sports News while assessing United's current squad.

"All his goals and best moments are on that left hand side, whether that's outside or inside - that's where he plays.

"He cannot play down the middle on his own."
