Ex-Man Utd boss Mourinho: Possession football about PR and image

Former Manchester United and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has had a pop at possession-based coaches.

In what is being interpreted as a dig at Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Mourinho argues possession football can often be an 'exercise in PR'.

He said in the Coaches' Voice: "Many people believe that the team with more possession is the team that is more dominant, but that depends on the way you look at it.

"A team without a ball can still have control of the game. For some coaches, that style I think is more a matter of public relations and image.

"The team that scores the most goals is the team that wins. And that is, for me, the fundamental point of the game."
