Former Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is full of praise for Ajax youngster Matthijs de Ligt.

The teenage central defender has been a revelation for the team, excelling at centre back and scoring crucial goals at the other end.

Despite Ajax going out in the semi final on away goals to Tottenham, Mourinho could see why all the top clubs in Europe want to sign de Ligt this summer.

Mourinho told beIN SPORTS at half-time of the second leg: "In a funny way, I only believe De Ligt is 19 years old when I look at his face.

“I think he has fantastic maturity.

“I think he must be very, very intelligent.

“I think the kid is fantastic."
